Remove Trap : must Need Trasures Hunter skill
The skilled rogue can disarm traps using the Remove Trap skill.
This skill can be used to be remove traps placed in cities for Vice vs Virtue battles.
This skill used to be useful in Factions as it is the only way to remove enemy Faction Traps.
Remove Trap was changed in Publish 105 and no longer requires Detect Hidden
To use the Remove Trap skill:
Click the blue gem next to the skill on your Skill List.
Target the item that you wish to disarm.
If you are successful in your attempt, the trap is disarmed and you can then attempt to pick the lock of the container.
If, however, your fingers slip and you fail to disarm the trap, there is a chance it may be set off.
Traps that are set off often reset themselves, requiring another Remove Trap attempt.
This skill is quite risky and you would be wise to practice it with caution.
Wearing gloves can hinder your ability to disarm traps, as the delicate inner works of certain traps require a fine touch.
For those in search of Treasure Chests made available by digging at the location of a Treasure Map this skill is a necessity.
After lockpicking such a chest any attempt to open it will only show a message indicating that Remove Trap skill should be used on it.
This can be done from any adjacent space to the chest and will show another message indicating that you are manipulating the chest's trap mechanism.
On a failure the chest will spawn one dark-blue-shaded, loot-less guardian of the appropriate type for the level of the chest,
which must be defeated before another attempt may be made.
The character will also simultaneously take a leveled amount of damage meaning that each failed attempt is doubly dangerous.
Training
Method 1
0 - 30: Train at Tinker or Thief. (shop around, I found a Thief Guildmaster that gave 33.2)
Arrange to have a tinker create 100 dart trapped boxes.
You will need 3 different skill tinkerer levels: 50, 80, and 100. Arrange 20 boxes and put all the keys on a keyring for each backpack. Unlock and relock the boxes to activate the traps again. Make sure to wear a 70 physical resistance suit because you will be damaged on some failures. A method of healing will be needed also.
30 - 50: Use on 50 skill trapped boxes.
50 - 80: Use on 80 skill trapped boxes.
80 - 100: Use on 100 skill trapped boxes.
It is best to train Remove Trap on a character with Tinkering so you can easily re-trap boxes you disarm. A Soulstone can be used later to transfer the skill to your intended character.
Method 2
Another method involves purchasing the training kits from an NPC called the Oddities Trader in Lycaeum. 3 types of kits exist:
Slider puzzle
Cylinder puzzle
Circuit puzzle

Treasure Map type
A major update in publish 105, Spring 2019, reduced the number of map levels from 7 to 5 In addition,
treasure chests have now been themed based on the following profession inspired packages:
1.Artisan
2.Assassin
3.Mage
4.Ranger
5.Warrior
This results in a map that will read like this “A Tattered Treasures Map Leading to a Mage’s Hoard”
There are also three qualities of chest, rusty, the familiar normal metal or gold.
Chest Quality is determined at dig time based on the digger’s modified cartography skill the first time the chest is successfully dug up.
If you decide to force the chest to be redug (i.e. move) the quality will never be better than the first pull,
but can be worse if your cartography skill is lower than the first successful attempt.
Luck is pulled from the player who digs up the chest at the time the chest is created,
which is when they begin the digging process successfully.
New to Old Map levels are as follows:
1 Plainly Drawn 1 Stash
2 Expertly Drawn 2 Supply
3 Adeptly Drawn
4 Cleverly Drawn 3 Cache
5 Deviously Drawn
6 Ingeniously Drawn 4 Hoard
7 Diabolically Drawn 5 Trove
Decoding a Treasure Map
You have your map, what next? You need to decode it.
Double click the map, if your cartography skill is high enough you will be able to read it,
though it may take more than one attempt. An unread map has the description ‘tattered’,
when read this label is lost and the map becomes ‘blessed’.
The location on a map which has been read is valid for 30 days,
after that the map will return to ‘tattered’ status and
re-set with a new location (handy if the first location turns out to be under someone’s house and so unobtainable).
If you expect to become an avid treasure hunter consider investing in the year 8 Veteran reward,
Davies’ Locker to aid with storage, this object also provides rough co-ordinates on maps that have been read.

The Treasure
There are 4 factors that influence what items end up in a chest if successful random rolls are made, Map Level, Profession Package, Chest Quality, and Facet.
Chest quality can impact chest loot in a variety of ways including the quantity of a specific loot item, the range of bonuses, the type of crafting materials, and the intensity of randomly generated magic equipment.
Chests have a chance to contain the following loot items based on level, package, and facet,
Gold & Gems in special gold & gem bags (all packages, all levels)
Minor artifacts, Pub 67 Artifacts (All packages, Supply)
Randomly Generated Equipment
The types of equipment are based on the package and facet which corresponds to the profession who might use the equipment
and the facet based on when the item was released in the game. For example,
if you are looking for a dagger you may look at Assassin maps in Trammel or
if you are after a Repeating Crossbow you would look at Ranger maps in Malas.
The quantity of items available is based on the level of chest,
there is a chance for additional items based on party size. (all packages)
Scrolls of Transcendence, Skill & value based on package and facet (All packages, stash, hoard and trove)
Scrolls of Alacrity, Skill is based on package and facet (All packages, supply and above)
Treasure Maps one level higher than the current level of map (All packages, up to Hoard)
Legacy & New Decorative Items based on package and facet (All packages, Cache and above)
Refinements (Artisan Stash)
Legacy Recipe Scrolls (Artisan Supply & Cache)
Crafting Materials, Wood, Metal, or Leather (Artisan Stash & Supply)
Special Crafting Materials, Essences, Mondain’s Legacy Ingredients available based on facet, (Artisan, Supply)
Legacy & New Utility Items based on package (Assassin, Artisan, and Ranger Supply)
Reagents in a special reagent bag. Type based on facet. (Mage Stash)
Powerscrolls, Skill is based on package and level is based on chest quality up to +10 (Felucca Only,
All packages except Artisan, Cache, Hoard and Trove)
The Guardians
All creatures bearing the tag [guardian] must be defeated before the chest can be unlocked.
In addition to the guardians some maps may spawn 2 – 4 additional mobs.
These creatures are not guardians and do not prevent the unlocking of the chest, many of these are tameable.
